Absolutely amazing. One of the best distortion pedals I have ever used
The absolute best noise gate I have ever used.
For over three decades, Meshuggah has not just played metal - they have engineered it. From the foundational thall of "Destroy,Erase, Improve" to the surgical violence of Immutable, their sound is defined by one thing: Unrelenting Clarity. Now, the secret to that seismic, low-end definition is available for your rig. Crafted in direct collaboration between the sonic visionaries of Meshuggah and the innovative mind of Mike Fortin, this pedal is the culmination of 33 years of rhythmic evolution.
Harness the Power of the "I". This isn't just a distortion; it’s a specialized preamp designed to handle the massive harmonic demands of extended-range guitars. Whether you are wielding an 8-string or a down-tuned 6, the MESHUGGAH pedal provides:
- Surgical Low-End Tightness: Eliminate the mud. This circuit is tuned to keep your low 'F' string articulate, even under extreme gain. - Complex Harmonic Excitement: Layer your riffs with the same roaring intensity heard on "Koloss" and "The Violent Sleep of Reason". - The Fortin Signature: Experience the brutal, mid-forward "push" that allows complex, polyrhythmic patterns to cut through any mix with terrifying focus.
Don't Just Play Riffs. Construct Audio Architecture. Imagine the weight of a live Meshuggah performance vibrating through your speakers. The MESHUGGAH pedal delivers that exact "mechanical" feel - where every palm mute is a percussive strike and every chord is a wall of controlled chaos.
This is the tool for the uncompromising musician. It is the sound of the future of heavy music. Join the collective. Elevate your frequency.
Step into the world of MESHUGGAH. Experience the Power of Precision.
From start to finish, the Meshuggah guys had total input on tone, response and features
The industry standard Fortin Zuul noise gate sits inside
Great preamp. It does exactly what it should do. PLUG IT IN TO YOUR FX RETURN. Red channel is unreal.
Not user friendly but with a little work I’ve found out how I should be using it. Keep the treble at 0 , and play with your mid/low knobs. The MVC works best for me at 08:00. Hi Gain switch. Green Channel. I’m running a 8 string with actives - Meshuggah Pedal - DIActive - Focusrite - Nameless Plugin. Sounds insanely heavy. Also shipped very quickly.
MESHUGGAH Pre-Amp / Distortion
I own and have owned many Fortin products over the last several years. Including the 33,33 mini,Zuul and the original Meshuggah head(#36 as well as the Nameless plugin) still in my arsenal. The pedal is pretty much a tiny version of it's beastly amp big brother. Like the amp it takes a little time to dial in with your setup but when you do it's simply crushing. Found a good variety of hot rodded classic and modern tones within the switches and knobs. Again, similarly to the amp your pickups, speakers, tuning and most importantly speakers will have an effect on how you have to dial it. It loves a good tube amp(Orange Hinds Terror)into the front or effects loop return as a preamp out into a vintage Orange cab loaded with UK made Celestion v30s. Likewise I was able to get good sounds with a Micro Dark and my vintage Lab Series L5 solid state combo amp. It really made them snarl and they had that tight, metallic Meshuggah chunk. My Meshuggah signature guitars(FTM33,M80M And M8M) and Per Nilsson's Strandberg Singularity 8 sounded as close to them as a mere mortal could get(Lundgren M8s). Other low tuned guitars with different pickups(Ibanez RG 9,Schecter Kenny Hickey baritone,Woodrite Matt Pike Imperial 9 string)also sounded equally beastly with slightly different responses. Also through my friends Eleven rack into poweramp with multiple cabs attached(including 15" speakers!). My only response to the naysayers would be to dial with your ears and experiment with input methods, speakers and boosts. The built in Zuul can knock most of the noise out but it can get noisy at extreme gain settings with hot pickups so don't be afraid to throw another noise gate in the signal to squash it. It was also designed with lower tunings and baritone scales in mind so if you're in standard or near that you may have to do some EQing to thicken up the sound. I'm pretty satisfied with how it stood up to the plugin and real amp and will probably get the Kali pedal next to round out my Fortin tone stack that also has the Natas pedal. Try one out if you're into the Meshuggah sound and don't be afraid to experiment.
The Meshuggah is quite power hungry which is why there is no battery clip - the power draw is about 106mA at 9v.
It is vitally important you power the Meshuggah with a high quality power supply!
The EQ is a hugely responsive 3 band active EQ, so you don't just cut frequencies, you can add them!
Mike got as close as he could to the tone, and most importantly, the feel of the amp. If you are to run the MESHUGGAH into the power section of a MESHUGGAH amp, or even into the IR section of the Neural DSP Nameless X suite, the tonal differences are extremely hard to hear.
